I believe he had 10 siblings, most of whom are no longer alive. My father Norman L. Tarantola was born in Saint Louis in 1945 and still lives here, he was an only child. My brother and I were also born in Saint Louis I was born in 1978, and my brother, Paul A. Tarantola was born in 1980. From what my grandfather has told me, his parents moved to Saint Louis from Northern Italy some time around 1900. They were involved in numerous real estate projects in the early 1900s, but during the depression lost nearly all of the property that they owned. My grandfather played professional baseball in the minor leagues for many years. He was brought up to the major leagues with the Saint Louis Browns at the end of the season on more than one occasion, but never played in a major league game. When he was 27 he married my grandmother, Betty Tarantola, her maiden name was Fry. They owned real estate in the Saint Louis area, including rental property and numerous drug stores. My grandfather maintained the property and was a very capable plumber, carpenter and electrician. Well into his 80s he would help my father with small projects around our home. My father married my mother Paulette Tarantola in 1969, her maiden name was Gualdonni. I believe that her grandparents were also from Northern Italy.
